Act est le fruit d'un long travail que l'artiste a mené au contact de personnes en situation de handicap. Si certains sont des acteurs, des sportifs ou des danseurs, tous ont trouvé dans l'action et dans l'appropriation personnelle de l'espace commun le moyen d'exprimer la complexité de leur individualité au-delà de leur statut assigné et réducteur d'handicapés.

Denis Darzacq n'ignore pas la différence créée par le handicap. Mais elle cède la place à l'affirmation d'un univers mental particulièrement sensible dans les mises en scène où la direction d'acteur est appuyée par la spontanéité, voire l'excentricité, des modèles qui construisent avec leur environement des situations fortement emprunt d'onirisme.

Act is the result of Denis Darzacq's long work amongst people with learning disabilities. Even though some of the subjects are also actors, athletes and dancers, each of them found in the acting and in the ownership of the public space a means to express the complexity of their individuality beyond the assigned label of “handicapped person”.

Denis Darzacq is well aware of the difference a handicap can create. But this difference yields to the assertion of a mental universe particularly sensitive in the way it is staged. Where the direction of the actors relies on the model’s spontaneity, not to say excentricity, while they interact with their surroundings to create a dreamlike dimension.
